James V. Burns, ChFC, CLU

James V. Burns, ChFC, CLU, (Jim Burns) is the founder and Managing Partner of Burns Financial Advisors, LLC.  Jim is a graduate of the University of Southern California Business School and has his professional designations of Chartered Financial Consultant and Chartered Life Underwriter from the American College of Bryn Mawn, Pennsylvania. Jim first received his Life and Health Insurance License in 1979, and operated  as Burns Insurance Service, for a number of years along with his wife, Dee, who is also a licensed insurance agent.  They provided life, disability and health insurance benefits to small business owners.

In 1997, Jim received his first securities license after affiliating himself with New England Financial, doing insurance and investment planning for small businesses.  His first year there, Jim was awarded, "Rookie of the Year," and earned a spot in New England Financial's coveted Leader's Association. It was also while at New England Financial that Jim began his studies in financial planning at the American College.  

As he continued with New England Financial, Jim was promoted to manager and placed in charge of hiring and training new planners. He was then recruited by CUNA Mutual Group in 2000, and given the responsibility of opening and operating a branch at the Navy Federal Credit Union in Groton, CT, and later assigned to the Navy Federal in Newport, RI. There, he received numerous awards for production and outstanding member service as he served as financial advisor to mostly military personnel and government employees.  

By 2001, Jim had completed his work towards his Stock Broker's License and Investment Advisor Registration. Then, in 2003, he completed his studies for his Chartered Financial Consultant's (ChFC) designation and after continuing his course work at American College, he was awarded the designation of Chartered Life Underwriter (CLU) in 2009. 

 Jim founded Burns Financial Advisors, LLC in the Summer of 2004, and has been succesfully providing financial services thoughout Southeast New England since.
